The 2024 FLY II PRO is an innovative advancement of the first FLY edition from 2023. The shape has undergone revisions similar to those of the FLY II, but it has also been enhanced with premium materials to deliver exceptional performance and user experience.
From the original FLY, our goal was to enhance stability and stiffness while also improving handling and control. The FLY II PRO introduces Aluula Aeris XTM, featuring a +/-45° X weave as opposed to regular Aluula, with lightweight Aluula AerisTM wingtips, resulting in significantly increased bias stiffness, precisely where it is needed.
The handle weight has been reduced, the FLY II PRO now features even lighter carbon handles in black EVA without texture, for a clean and technical look.
The sizes are carefully chosen - the half square metre increments of the Fly II Pro are optimum for the more 'pro‘ rider. From 3,5 to 6,5 - you can find your ideal premium NeilPryde wing.
HIGH END MATERIAL MIX
NeilPryde exclusively uses the new innovative ALUULA AerisTM and ALUULA Aeris XTM fabrics in the Fly II Pro Leading Edge and Strut – the new ALUULA materials allow for a thinner and stiffer Leading Edge and Middle Strut than ever before. Outstanding tear and abrasion resistance, excellent UV resistance, extremely low water absorption, and recyclability compared to conventional ALUULA GoldTM models!"
LEADING EDGE REDUCTION
The Leading Edge (LE) diameter has been decreased 9-12% for the FLY II PRO (moreso in larger sizes) to reduce drag and allow higher inflation pressures.
EVOLVED WINDOW SHAPE
Evolved window shape adds outboard elements to improve visibility when sheeted in. X Ply Windows in front and back.
INCREASED WINGTIP SWEEP
Wingtip sweep has been increased to improve upwind stability and and for more control while holding the wing in a neutral position. The pointing ability is improved due to moved Center of Effort slightly to the leech. The use of Aluula Aeris material in the LE and wing tips allowed us to create a thinner, lighter and stiffer LE and wing tip than ever before.
TRANSVERSE PANELING UPDATE
The new wings have much more precise shaping built in, while retaining the transverse paneling that holds it‘s shape under load and stretches much less over time.
A year after introducing the FLY, we have achieved additional development milestones and are proud to unveil the enhanced and refined models: FLY II PRO and FLY II. The development of the FLY concept has been based on using the most proven materials, examining the technical development of wingfoiling down to the smallest detail and adjusting all the set screws.
SHAPE DIFFERENCES
The Fly II and Fly II PRO are very close. The major shape differences are the LE diameter (PRO is much smaller) and that - because it has a flatter entry angle to leverage the leading edge (LE) stiffness of the Aluula and reduce drag - the Fly PRO canopy appears slightly smaller when shown as flat pieces.
TRANSVERSE CANOPY PANELING
The new wings have much more precise shaping built in, while retaining the transverse paneling that holds it‘s shape under load and stretches much less over time. There are now 4 stitched transverse panels on each side of the wing compared to only 2 in the previous model, vastly increasing shape stability.
INTEGRAL BATTEN SYSTEM
Sewn-in composite battens create a flat, fast trailing edge with minimum flutter.
STAGGERED MATERIAL WEIGHTS ON LE
LE with ALUULA AERIS X materials for strength and durability and ALUULA AERIS for durable & ultralight wingtips.
CARBON HANDLES
Reduced weight and added stiffness further enhance our state of the art, proprietary handles in the FLY II Pro.
